Many of you will be surprised to learn this, but Christianity is the closest religion their is to Islam.
Muslims believe in the one true god, - the same god who created the heavens and the earth, Adam & Eve, and Noah, Jacob, David, Solomon, Issac, Ishmael, Jonah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus (and the other prophets i fail to mention here), - the same one god who has caused us to be born and shall take our souls when we die.
Muslims know that we shall be raised up again come judgement day, - and on that day we shall all be made to stand before the god of us all, the creator and sustainer, and we will be asked about our deeds in this life.
A true practicing Muslim can be found doing as much good as possible, because, as it is familiar to you, we believe that if we do good while in this world, that we shall be rewarded with heaven. however, if we did bad, and lived a life deep in sin and rejected our creator, then the punishment is hellfire.
So yes, Muslims believe in god and doing good. we believe in the virgin birth by Mary and Jesus's return come the end of times. not one Muslim can call themselves Muslim without first believing in Jesus Christ. we believe in his miracles and he is of high importance to us.
Furthermore, we believe in the prophet Mohammad who came after Jesus, and spoke of Jesus's miracles, and affirms and preached the same message of all the prophets of old (do not worship any other than god and do good). we also believe in the holy book called qu'ran revealed in the time of the prophet Mohammad (p.b.u.h.)
The difference you find in our two religions is that we do not call Jesus the son of god, or that he is the lord himself, because that goes against the monotheistic belief of their being only one god, the almighty. Jesus is a prophet and a messenger. he was also a man who walked the streets and had to eat and drink like the rest of us, and he himself submits to the lord almighty. |
